(KLZA)-- The Nebraska State Fire Marshall is investigating the cause of a fire that destroyed a two-story home a mile east of Highway 105 along Highway 4 near Humboldt early Friday morning.
Humboldt Fire Chief Rex Kappel said firefighters were called to the
James Hartshorn home about 3 a-m. The family was away on for the holidays, with the home unoccupied at the time of the fire.
Crews remained on the scene for approximately four hours, braving the temperatures in the teens, as they battled the blaze.
