(KAIR)--A continuance has been granted in the case of an Atchison teen accused of a sex crime.
17-year-old Dequan Rawles appeared in Atchison County District court for a status hearing Monday afternoon. His attorney, Ben Casad requested a two week extension and Judge Martin Asher set a new court date for January 12th.
Rawles and two others are accused of having unlawful sexual relations with a 13-year-old female during three, unrelated instances in October 2013.
Rawles, who was 16-years-old at the time the crime allegedly occurred, was certified as an adult because he was on probation for another sex related crime when the alleged incident took place.
