Sabetha Man Sentenced to More than 25 Years in Prison
(KMZA)--A Sabetha man convicted on charges in a child rape case has been sentenced to more than 25 years in prison.
51-year-old William Vogel was sentenced Thursday in Nemaha County District Court on charges of rape, aggravated indecent liberties with a child and kidnapping.
After serving the prison sentence, Vogel will have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life and will be placed on post release supervision for the rest of his life.
He pleaded no contest to the felony charges in November.
Authorities say the crimes involving a child under the age of 14 occurred on or about August 10th in Sabetha.
Vogel fled the local area and the Sabetha Police Department enlisted the assistance of the U.S. Marshal's to help locate him. He was finally taken into custody in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on September 9th after turning himself into authorities.
