(KAIR)--The Memorial Hall Revitalization Committee is holding a re-dedication ceremony for the newly upgraded Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall in Atchison.
Committee Chairperson Patty Boldridge says that the ceremony was originally set to take place on Veteran's Day, but unfinished work pushed the date back to December 8th, the date the United States entered World War Two.
Boldridge says the entire revitalization was an ongoing project for some time, with the initial goal of remodeling the front of Memorial Hall with some type of memorial to honor veterans and first responders.
However, over time, it turned into so much more. The group saw so many things that they could helped with, so they worked with local government agencies and the Hall's Board of Trustees to get a new roof on the building and installed handicap restrooms.
Boldridge adds that the Committee would like to thank the many people that have helped them with the project.
The ceremony is scheduled to start at 12:00 at the Memorial Hall Plaza. There will be a flag raising, a color guard presentation, and a short speech, followed by a reception. Everyone is invited to attend.
