(KAIR)--Atchison's Project Concern, a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting local ederly residents, is a finalist for a $20,0000 grant through Wal Mart, but they need some help to get it.
Director Jennifer Thornton says they are one of 150 finalists vying for the $1.5 million being given away by Wal Mart. The company will give out grants of $20,000 to the seventy five organizations that receive the most votes.
Thorton adds the money would go a long way towards funding the many programs provided by Project Concern. These programs include Meals on Wheels and the transportation service. The organization also runs multiple centers in the county that are designed to keep the elderly independent longer. Residents are able to come to any of the centers to partake in a hot meal and socialize with other seniors.
Voting started at 12:01 Tuesday morning and runs until 11:59 on December 12th. To vote online, go to walmart.com/holidaymakover and type in Project Concern, Inc. Click on the vote button, and log into your Facebook account to complete the voting process. Liking the Wal Mart page or clicking on the like button does not count as a vote.
Each person may vote once every twenty four hours.
