(KNZA)--A request for a bond reduction has been denied.
That's the latest development in the case of 26-year-old Eric Burge, the rural Troy man accused of shooting his 25-year-old roommate. Matthew Sollars died from the injuries he suffered in August of last year.
The Kansas Chief reports the request for the bond reduction was made last week in a Doniphan County courtroom by Burge's defense attorney.
Judge Jim Patton denied the request, saying that Burge has a history of making poor decisions, despite the defense's argument that he doesn't pose a flight risk.
A jury trial for Burge was set last month, and is planned for January 20th through January 23rd. Charges include second degree murder.
He remains in the Doniphan County Jail, held on bond of $500,000.
