(KNZA)--A former rural Doniphan County schoolhouse is no more, destroyed in an early Tuesday morning fire.
The St. Joseph News-Press reports the structure was located near the community of Blair, in the 1600 block of Peck Road, where fire crews from the Doniphan County Fire District, the Wathena Fire Department and the Troy Fire Department all responded around 7:30.
50-foot high flames were reported prior to the crews being able to extinguish the blaze.
The building is considered a total loss.
The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
