(KAIR)--An investigation by the Atchison County Sheriff's Department into an alleged theft led to the arrest of an Lansing man Monday.
According to Sheriff Jack Laurie, the investigation started in May of this year after Effingham resident Steven Swendson reported that various metal items, including radiators and copper wire had been taken from his property located at 302nd Road and Clay Road.
Laurie says that investigators received a tip earlier this month that led them to believe that 44-year-old Arnold Joe Riker had been on the property on at least six occasions where scrap metal was allegedly taken.
Ricker was arrested on an Atchison County warrant for burglary and theft, and transported to the Atchison County Jail.
Laurie adds that the investigation is ongoing, as it is believed that nearly 20 different thefts or burglaries will be cleared once the investigation is complete. There are other suspects in the case, but names are not being made available at this time.
