(KLZA)-- The Humboldt City Council has authorized Mayor Mike Riley to sign an agreement to accept a $166,000 grant for rehabilitation, demolition and lead paint hazard clearance.
Southeast Nebraska Development District is taking the applications for the grant monies. For more information on the grant process contact the SENDD office in Humboldt.
Water Operation Ken Kuhlman with Peoples Services, who operates the Humboldt water and waste water systems, was to meet with the Council but did not. Humboldt is having to add additional chloride to the water system. The Council wants to determine if the system is still under warranty and what can be done to correct the problem, which has been occurring for several months.
The Council received bids from three companies for used street sweepers. The bids ranging from $32,000 to $69,750 were taken under advisement with action expected in December.
Humboldt will continue health insurance coverage for two city employees with United Healthcare. The cost will be decreasing approximately $200.
Bids are going to be accepted on approximately 33 acres of farmland the City owns at the airport. City Clerk Connie Laflin says some changes are being made to the agreement before bids are accepted. A new stipulation is being added that if you lease the property, you must be the one to farm it.
Currently the producer that leased the property has sublet it out for someone else to farm.
