(KAIR)--Atchison County residents are alerted that phone calls will be received next week from the new CodeRed Community Notification System.
According to County Emergency Preparedness Director Wes Lanter, the emergency notification system, to be jointly used by both the city and county of Atchison, will place a phone call to the landline of each resident on Tuesday. The call will serve as a test while explaining the features of the system.
Lanter says the cooperative effort provides alerts, notifications and weather warnings to County residents by phone calls, texts or email:
Lanter says the goal is for the all-call to raise awareness of the system, which will allow both residents and businesses to go online and select what type of messages they receive, as well as how they receive the message.
For a link to register for the alerts, please see the Atchison County website at www.atchisoncountyks.org or the City of Atchison website at www.cityofatchison.com. The respective Twitter and Facebook pages contain the link to the community enrollment page as well. If a person does not have internet access, he or she may call the Atchison County Emergency Management office at 913-833-4025 to register.
For more information on the notifications or how to register, please contact Lanter at 913-833-4025 or wlanter@atcoks.org
