Recognition for Retiring Brown Co Employee
11/18/2014

(KNZA)--Recognition for a retiring Brown County employee.

County Commission Chairman Keith Olsen presented Deputy County Clerk Marla Hathhorn on Monday with a plaque in appreciation of her twenty-five years of service.

Hathhorn is retiring at the end of the month.  Her last day is November 26th.

Olsen also reported that Brown County was recognized last week during the annual meeting of the Kansas Workers Risk Cooperative for Counties in Wichita.

He said Brown County tied for second place with Greenwood County for an exceptional loss ratio for 2013.

And County Noxious Weed Director George Bruning told commissioners he needs to renew his contract with the Kansas Department of Transportation for treating noxious weed infested areas on state rights-of-way.

Bruning said the rates for 2015 will remain the same at $60 an hour, which includes labor and equipment.  The state will supply the chemicals.

The Commission approved and signed the contract.

The commission will meet next week on Wednesday instead of Monday.  The Brown County Courthouse will be closed Thursday and Friday in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.
