Sentencing For Former Area Legislator Postponed

Trent LeDoux

(KNZA)--The sentencing for a former area Kansas legislator convicted of bank fraud has been postponed for a third time.

Trent LeDoux, of Holton, had been scheduled to be sentenced Monday in U.S. District Court after pleading guilty in May to defrauding a Colby bank out of more than $400,000, some which prosecutors say was deposited into his campaign account.

However, the Topeka Capital Journal reports his attorney last Thursday filed a motion for a continuance. The motion states that LeDoux has been for some time, and is currently, in St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas undergoing treatment for complications developing from severe pancreatitis. The motion says surgery is scheduled as soon as possible.

His sentencing has been rescheduled for January 12th.
