11/17/2014

(KNZA)--Plans are underway for the annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner in Hiawatha.
The Dinner will take place Thursday, November 27th at the First Baptist Church Family Life Center at 210 Lodge Road from noon to 1, with delivery service beginning at 11.
The Dinner is sponsored by the First Baptist Church Mission Board, the Melster Family, and other community volunteers.
The Melster family began the tradition some 30 years ago.
Last year, close to 330 meals were served.
Organizer Debbie Roland says volunteers are still needed to help with this year's Community Thanksgiving Dinner.   She says they especially volunteers to prepare turkey's and pumpkin pies. Monetary donations are also welcome.
If you would like to volunteer you can contact Roland at 742-7201 or Helen Melster at 742-2334.   To make your reservation for the meal or a donation you can contact the First Baptist Church at 742-3423
