18th Annual Jingle Bell Ride Sunday in Hiawatha
11/10/2014

(KNZA)--To help the less fortunate children in Brown County experience the joy of Christmas—that’s the goal of the Annual Jingle Bell Ride.

The 18th Annual Ride will take place this upcoming Sunday, November 16th in Hiawatha.

Jingle Bell Ride Coordinator Patti Merchant says the riders will be collecting new unwrapped toys for children under the age of 18 along with monetary gifts for their Christmas Store.

Rider registration will begin at 11 on the south side of the Courthouse Square.  At 12 noon, Santa will arrive to greet children.  In addition, there will be miniature horse carriage rides around the courthouse square  and face painting inside the Courthouse.

At 1 o’clock there will be a parade down Oregon Street before the riders split up into groups to pick up donated toys and gifts for children.

The toys gathered will be distributed during the Christmas store, which will held December 11th from 9 to 5 in the basement of the Brown County Sheriff’s office.

Last year, the Christmas Store served 105 families in the county.

If you would like to donate a toy or financial gift, or receive more information call ( 785) 741-0861.
