Fairview Shooting Case Heads To Court
(KNZA)--Charges are not yet filed against the 17-year-old Hiawatha teen who fled and hid from authorities, leading to a strong show of force, prior to his arrest.
A joint press release from the Brown County Sheriff's Office and the Hiawatha Police Department says Braiden Guido was found hiding in the attic of his 311 North 8th Street residence early Monday morning. Numerous law enforcement agencies, including the Kansas Highway Patrol, assisted in his capture.
Authorities say he ran when the vehicle he was in was stopped Sunday after it was reported driving recklessly and having been involved in a shooting in Fairview that caused no reported injuries.
It has not been stated just what role Guido played in the shooting.
Four other suspects were also arrested in connection with the case, including 35-year-old Walter Lee Cole, of Morrill, who, along with 19-year-old Angel Spomer, of Centralia, was in the vehicle stopped by authorities.
Cole made his first appearance in a Brown County courtroom Tuesday, charged with aggravated assault, accused of using a deadly weapon, identified as a pistol.
His preliminary hearing is set for November 5th.
His bond is set at $100,000, with a request to modify that bond denied Wednesday.
