Woman Arrested After Pottawatomie Co Chase

(KMZA)--A Topeka woman was arrested Sunday night after leading Pottawatomie County authorities on a low speed chase.

According to a press release from Sheriff Greg Riat, the incident began shortly before 9 after the sheriff’s department received a report of an unwanted subject at a residence in Emmett. The individual left the residence before a deputy arrived, reportedly driving a white van.

A deputy was able to locate the van in Emmett and stopped the driver for a traffic infraction. However, the driver drove away from the deputy and a low speed chase ensued through the town Emmett and south on Highway 63 towards St Marys.

Officers from the St. Marys Police Department deployed stop sticks on the highway, which the van struck. The driver continued south on Highway 63, striking a St. Marys patrol car that was directing traffic. The van finally came to a stop in St. Marys, where the driver was arrested.

43-year-old Tiffany Botts faces charges of felony criminal damage to property, flee and elude, driving under the influence and transporting an open container.

She remains in the Pottawatomie County Jail. No injuries were reported.
