(KNZA)--A Topeka man is jailed in Jackson County, accused of identity theft along with drug-related crimes.

Jackson County Sheriff Tim Morse says Wednesday's arrest of 43-year-old Brandon Jordan followed a call placed from the Holton Wal-Mart, which reported that a man had attempted to pass a forged check.

The store employee identified the suspect as a rear seat passenger in a green Ford Explorer, heading south from Holton.

After the description was given, a matching vehicle was spotted by an officer for the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Tourism who was able to intercept the Explorer.

Deputies arrived on the scene, arresting Jordan while seizing numerous items they claim are related to fraud and identity theft. Located in the vehicle, when stopped near 182nd Road and U.S. Highway 75, were what authorities allege to be a large assortment of credit cards and checks bearing the identities of others, along with a computer, printer and check paper believed to be used in the manufacture of fraudulent checks and id's.

Morse says it's also alleged that methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia was also found.

Two other occupants of the vehicle were identified and interviewed but let go.

The Holton Police Department assisted with the investigation.

Jordan is facing seven counts of forgery, 18 counts of making a false writing, 18 counts of identity theft, and seven counts of counterfeiting.  Additionally, he's facing charges of possession of meth and drug paraphernalia.

Bond is pending.

Morse says at the time of his arrest, Jordan was found to have outstanding warrants for similar charges elsewhere.
