09/29/2014

(KAIR)--A Manhattan woman, accused of removing the chemical anhydrous ammonia from a storage tank in southern Muscotah has agreed to a plea deal in the case.

22-year-old Paige Borchert appeared in Atchison County District Court Monday afternoon to enter a guilty plea to one count of misdemeanor criminal trespass and one count of felony interference with a law enforcement officer.

In exchange for the plea, one count of attempted possession of a drug precursser and one count of attempted theft were dropped.

Sentencing has been set for October 27th.

Borchert was arrested early last month after an Atchison County Sheriff's Deputy spotted her and three others attempting to remove the chemical from the tank. When the deputy arrived on the scene, all four attempted to flee, but Borchert, 29-year-old Michael Johnson, and 37-year-old Jennifer Buskirk were soon apprehended.

Johnson and Buskirk agreed to similar plea deals earlier this month, and are scheduled to be sentenced in late October.
