(KLZA)-- The August unemployment rate dropped in all extreme Southeast Nebraska counties.
Nemaha County, Nebraska had the biggest drop in unemployment from 5.7 percent in July down to 4.4 percent in August.
Pawnee County continues to have the lowest unemployment rate in the area at 2.8 percent. Other area unemployment rates for August were 4.6 percent in Richardson County, 3.5 percent in Johnson County, 3.6 percent in Gage County and 3.4 percent in Otoe County.
Statewide the August unemployment rate was steady at 3.6 percent. The latest Nebraska unemployment rate remains well below the national average of 6.1 percent.
