(KTNC)--Southeast Nebraska Community Action Partnership is offering classes meant to help renters find and keep quality, affordable rental housing.
The “Rent Wise” classes teach participants how to effectively communicate with landlords and neighbors, budget, find an apartment, and take care of their home. The class will also focus on tenant rights and landlord responsibilities under Fair Housing Laws. Trained SENCA instructors will walk participants through the rental process.
SENCA will offer the program at two locations. The first class is scheduled October 21, 23, and 28, from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m., at the Nemaha County Hospital in Auburn.
The second class will be held November 13, 18, and 20, also from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m., at the Public Library in Syracuse.
A light supper will be provided at no cost during the class, and participants who attend all three nights will receive a certificate of completion.
The class is free and open to anyone – including current and future renters and landlords. Registration is required. The deadline to register for the first session is October 14, and November 6 for the second session.
Contact SENCA Housing Administrative Assistant Anita Kimpston at 402-862-2411, extension 104, to request an application or for more information. Applications can also be picked up at SENCA’s Central Office or any SENCA Outreach Office or Head Start location.
