Number of Cattle On Feed In Nebraska Increasing

 LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - A new U.S. Department of Agriculture report says the number of cattle in large Nebraska feedlots is up 4 percent compared to August of last year.

The report says feedlots with capacities of more than 1,000 head contained 2.16 million cattle as of August 1st.

Cattle placements for the month of July totaled 465,000 head, up 3 percent from last year. About 465,000 fed cattle were marketed for the month of July, a 3 percent increase from last year.

The report was compiled by the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service.
