(KMZA)--An accused rapist remains on the run, and the Sabetha Police Department is asking for public assistance to bring him into custody.
Sabetha Police Chief Robert Wahwasuck says 51-year-old William Vogel is wanted in connection with a rape that happened Sunday in Sabetha.
Vogel is described as white, standing 6'2” and weighing 280 pounds. He has brown eyes and brown and mostly gray hair.
Wahwasuck says Vogel does not have transportation, and may be hitchhiking or requesting rides, and is believed to be attempting to travel to Florida, Texas or Illinois.
According to Wahwasuck, investigators believe Vogel may still be hiding out in northeast Kansas, but is not in the Sabetha area.
A Nemaha County warrant for Vogel's arrest was issued Monday, but details regarding his alleged crime have not yet been made public.
Anyone with information regarding Vogel's whereabouts is asked to contact the Sabetha Police Department at 785-284-2158.
