(KTNC)--A meeting is scheduled Tuesday for parents and guardians of Pawnee City students in grades 7-thru-12. The “technology boot camp” will be held from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in the school lunchroom.
The meeting is associated with the school’s one-to-one initiative, which gives a laptop computer to every student in 9th thru 12th grade. Parents will learn about issues with using the Internet safely, both at home and at school, and review the district’s acceptable use guidelines.
While the one-to-one program is only available for students in grades 9-thru-12, school officials say with increased computer use at the junior high level, it’s important for all parents to know the guidelines that will be enforced.
Tuesday’s boot camp is for parents. A parent or guardian must attend the boot camp before a student will receive a computer. If a parent attended the boot camp in the spring, they do not need to attend Tuesday’s meeting. Students will attend a similar session on the first day of class.
The first day of class for Pawnee City students is Wednesday, with a 2:00 p.m. dismissal. Regular hours for Pawnee City students will be from 8:10 a.m. to 3:40 Monday thru Thursday, and from 8:10 a.m. till 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
Student meal prices are $2.45 for pre-k through 6th grade and $2.55 for junior high and high school students. Breakfast costs $1.75 for all grades. Families that qualify for free or reduced price meals should submit applications to the school office.
