Brown Co. Awarded Road Safety Grant

(KNZA)--Brown County has been awarded a $181,000 state grant for the installation new signage to enhance road safety.
The County Commission voted last week to accept the grant from the Kansas Department of Transportation, which will pay 100 percent of the cost of new high intensity reflective road signs to meet federal standards.
The Commission also approved a contract with Manhattan-based BG Consultants to assess each sign on more than 276 miles of county roads to determine which need to be replaced.
The state will let bids by July 1st, 2015 for a contactor to replace the signs.
