(KLZA)-- The Auburn City Council Monday night again discussed the need for a new fire truck or trucks. Mayor Scott Kudrna says the wants of the Fire Departments Truck Committee have changed since last month when they wanted to purchase a combination pumper / aerial truck known as a QUINT. The truck committee would like to purchase a pumper and an aerial truck instead of the combination truck, which was estimated to cost of up to $750,000. The cost for a pumper truck, the top priority for the Auburn Fire Department is estimated at $250,000 and the cost for an aerial truck is estimated at $125,000 to $150,000.
Mayor Scott Kudrna says the next step is to submit two grant applications for the fire trucks. The communities of Auburn and Peru are going to seek the aerial truck together.
The Auburn Council gave final approval to an ordinance Monday night that will allow permits to be issued by the City, for beer and wine on city owned property. It will be 15 days before the permits for alcohol use at Auburn recreation facilities as well as at the Library and City Hall. Permits will be issued by the City.
Council members also discussed a request for the use of KENO funds for the purchase of new audio equipment that could be used for community events. No action was taken.
