(KAIR)--The Atchison Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire early Tuesday morning.
According to Chief Mike McDermed, fire crews received the report just before 12:30. Upon arrival, they observed smoke coming from a three bay garage behind a residence located in the 500 block of Spring Street. He says it is believed the fire started in the east bay, but soon extended to the other two bays. Officials quickly extinguished the blaze.
McDermed say that most of the damage was confined to the first bay, but there is smoke damage throughout the structure.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, but McDermed says it does not appear suspicious.
