(KAIR)--The Atchison Area Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for its annual City Wide Spring Clean-up event, set to take place this weekend.
The Atchison Beautification Committee has been working with the Chamber to organize the clean-up. Committee Chairwoman Rita Hartman explains that they have set up a drop off point at 1100 Main Street, the site of the the old MGP flour mill, for people to take their refuse. They will be taking tires, plastics, newspapers, glass, and paint if it is still in liquid form in the can. There will also be a separate container available for standard trash.
There is also a pick up service available for residents who want to get rid of air conditioners, appliances, batteries, metal, wood, and old trash cans.
Hartman says they will be offering a new service this year. Rock, cement, or concrete will be picked up for disposal, as long as it is no more than one cubic yard and placed in a neat pile in front of the home.
Yard waste is also available for pick up, but officials are asking that it be bundled and not exceed four feet in diameter.
The Atchison City Wide Spring Clean-Up will take place Saturday from 8:00AM-Noon.
If you have any questions, or want to schedule a pick up, please call the Chamber at 913-367-2427.
