(KNZA)--A 17-year-old Topeka teenager is facing charges in connection with the alleged abuse of a 7-month-old Holton child.
Jackson County Sheriff Tim Morse says deputies took the male teen into custody Saturday morning following a medical call to a Holton apartment complex located at 110 Pennsylvania on Friday night.
Morse says the child was reported to have difficulty breathing and was unresponsive. He says the child is considered to be in “ critical condition“ and was airlifted to a Kansas City hospital.
The 17-year old is currently being held on charges of aggravated battery, child abuse and endangering a child.
The Holton Police Department assisted with the investigation.
