Marysville Council Defeats Chicken Ordinance
04/17/2014

(KMZA)--The Marysville City Council has rejected a proposed ordinance that would have allowed residents to keep and raise chickens within the city limits.

The Marysville Advocate reports the ordinance failed on a 3 to 4 vote at this week’s Council meeting.

It would have allowed residents to keep up to six hens in a coop within the city limits. A local resident, recently cited for having chickens in town, proposed the ordinance.

The council heard from those both for and against the proposed ordinance.

During discussion, an idea was brought forward to allow chickens for a test period,  which the council agreed to consider their April 28th meeting.
