(KNZA)--A former area school district superintendent has been hired as the new superintendent of the Holton schools.
Following an executive session, the USD 336 board of education voted unanimously Monday evening to offer Dennis Stones,of Sabetha, a one year contract at annual salary of $81,300.
He will begin work July 1st replacing Nancy Meyer who is retiring.
Stones was interviewed for the position during a special meeting last week.
He brings with him 37 years of experience in the field of education-- the majority of that spent at Sabetha. Stones retired as superintendent of Prairie Hills USD 113 in 2012 after serving the consolidated district and, before that, as superintendent for Sabetha-Wetmore USD 441 for 13 years. Before that he served as assistant superintendent for three years and Sabetha High School principal for four years. Stones was also a principal in Oklahoma for 7 years and a teacher and coach in Nebraska for 10 years.
