(KTNC) -- Mound City residents will still have to purchase vehicle stickers. The Board of Aldermen decided to keep the decals – at least for now – after discussion during Tuesday’s monthly meeting.
The stickers, which cost three to five dollars, bring in about $3700 to $3800 revenue for to the Street Fund annually. The city pays $300 for the decals and Alderman Jason Biermann questioned whether the revenue justified the costs. After discussion, Aldermen decided to continue requiring the stickers.
The city will look into adding the fee to tax bills collected by Holt County. If that can be done, then the decals would no longer be issued.
In other business this week, the Mound City Board of Aldermen hired part-time reserve officer Blaine Kennedy as a full-time officer, with a salary of $32,000 per year.
Chief John Panning told the council that Officer Buckles’ employment was terminated on January 20.
Aldermen also increased Panning’s salary to $40,000 per year, effective February 17. The salaries for Panning and Kennedy will be frozen until July 2015.
Aldermen approved a proposal from Midwest Data Center to purchase a new Dell computer with docking station and a Toshiba docking station for $1,695. The price includes transferring data from the old computer and set-up of the new machine.
Aldermen approved the purchase after learning that Microsoft will no longer support the operating system on the current computer system after April 8.
The council reappointed Donnie Ireland to the Planning Commission and Denise Newcomb to the Board of Zoning Adjustment. They also accepted the resignation of Alderman Jason Biermann, effective March 1. Biermann said he accepted a new job and will be moving. The mayor will appoint someone to replace Biermann.
