(KMZA)--The Nemaha Central USD 115 Board of Education during their regular meeting this week approved the 2014-2015 school calendar.
The first day of school for students will be Thursday, August 14th and the final day will be Friday, May 22nd.
Meanwhile, the board approved a change in the last day of school for students at the B & B Junior/Senior High School this school year from May 22nd to May 19th to allow time for staff to pack materials for moving.
In other business, the board approved bids for several projects. Lankford Enterprises will refinish the main and secondary gym floors at the Nemaha Valley High School along with middle school gym floor for a total cost of $44,810. Neale Painting will paint the walls of both high school gyms for $27,580, and Suther Building will replace the asphalt high school driveway with concrete for a total cost of $19,425.
Superintendent Darrel Kohlman discussed with the board the idea of converting the computer lab in the elementary building to classrooms. He said the project is estimated to cost about $30,000 so bids will need to be solicited. It was the consensus of the board that Kohlman should seeks bids for considered at a later meeting.
And the USD 115 Board accepted several resignations, effective at the end of the current school year. They include Nemaha Valley Elementary and Middle School Administrative Assistant Mary Boeckman; Special Education Administrative Assistant Bridget Davis; High School government teacher Abby Stueve and Nemaha Valley Elementary pre-school teacher Risa Gilbert. The board also accepted the resignation of para-educator Connie Detweiler, effective February 14th. And a supplemental contract for Wendy Strathman as middle school assistant track coach was approved.
