(KTNC) -- Low-to-moderate income individuals and families in southeast Nebraska can have their taxes prepared free of charge. SENCA is offering free income tax preparation again this year through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance – or VITA – program.
The program began Tuesday and continues through April 15th.
Volunteers will be available at various SENCA offices on different days throughout the week to help people with their income taxes. People are asked to schedule an appointment in advance.
On Wednesday, volunteers will be available in Humboldt, Pawnee City and Tecumseh. Call Pam or Jenny at 402-862-2411, extension 105 or 106 for an appointment.
Volunteers will also be available Wednesdays at the Nemaha County Outreach office in Auburn. Call Sasha at 402-274-4666 for information.
Volunteers will be available at the SENCA office at the Richardson County Courthouse in Falls City on Thursdays. Call Melissa at 402-245-5284 for an appointment.
Last year, SENCA prepared 202 tax returns, resulting in more than $317,000 in refunds to individuals and families in southeast Nebraska.
