(KAIR)--There was plenty of good news to go around when the members of the USD 409 school board met Tuesday evening.
Superintendent Susan Myers says the district's architect reported that construction is nearly complete at the high school. The addition to the building is complete, though there is some seating and some landscaping that will have to wait until spring, but students are in that area now, and there are open houses planned for February. The Roosevelt building is also almost complete, with completion set to finish at the end of January.
The district also took some time during the meeting to recognize the board itself, since it is school board recognition month. Myers says these individuals do a lot of work and give a lot of their time for no pay, and thus deserve to be recognized.
The board also discussed the use of their facilities during times of emergency. County Emergency Management Director Wes Lanter gave a report with a memorandum of understanding to use district buildings in times of a disaster under specific circumstances and conditions.
In other business, District Business Manager Lori Lanter gave a report on the future of the district's capital outlay monies and reviewed the results of the last district facility study.
