(KTNC) -- The deadline has been extended to order trees through the Nemaha Natural Resources District’s conservation tree program.
The deadline to order trees and have the NRD plant them has been extended to January 31. The deadline had been December 31. NRD officials say your ground must have been tilled last fall to be eligible for their planting service in the spring, and a minimum order of 200 trees is required for the NRD to do the planting.
Those who will be planting their own trees have until March 1, or until inventories are depleted, to place their order.
The Nemaha NRD has several varieties of conifers, deciduous trees, and shrubs available. Species must be ordered in lots of 25 per species. The cost is 90-cents per seedling, plus a $2.50 handling and packaging charge on all orders except those planted by the NRD. The cost for NRD machine planting is one-dollar per tree.
Orders will be available for pick-up in April.
To place an order, request NRD planting services, or for more information, contact the Nemaha NRD office in Tecumseh at 402-335-3325. Information is also available on the NRD’s website, www.nemahanrd.org.
