(KNZA)--The Doniphan County Commission last week discussed county employee wages for 2014, but made no decision.
A motion by Commission Chairman Terry Horner to grant elected officials---including commissioners—a $1.92 per hour pay increase failed due to the lack of a second. The increase would have equated to about $4,000 per year based on a 40 hour work week.
In making the motion, Horner said he had researched the wages paid to elected officials in neighboring counties and thought Doniphan County’s should be brought more in line to be competitive.
Commissioners will further discuss employee wages at their January 6th meeting.
In other business, a resolution was adopted setting a public hearing to consider proposed amendments to the county’s Neighborhood Revitalization Plan, and an extension of the plan for additional five years.
The hearing will be held December 31st at 9:30 in the morning in the commissioner’s room at the Doniphan County Courthouse.
