(KMZA)--A bid has been accepted for the construction of a new building at the Nemaha County Fairgrounds in Seneca.
The county commission this week opened bids for the removal of the south fair building and the construction of a new 60 by 180 foot building in its place.
Following discussion, the commission voted to accept a bid from Steve Stallbaumer Construction of Seneca for the construction of the new fair building with the option of adding stepped concrete strips across the doorways for a total amount of $124,200.
The building is used by the county to store equipment and during the fair is used to exhibit animals.
In other business, Sheriff Rich Vernon presented bids for the purchase of 10 portable defibrillators to install in patrol cars in the county for use in emergencies. Bids were received from two companies. The commission will have Dave Rethman with the Seneca EMS review the bids before purchasing any units.
