(KNZA)--NAMI PONY EXPRESS is sponsoring a presentation in Hiawatha on post traumatic stress disorder.
Dr. Jonathan Farrell-Higgins will speak Monday evening, September 16th, at 7 at the First United Methodist Church at 410 Hiawatha Avenue.
Dr. Farrell- Higgins is the Supervisory Psychologist and Chief of Stress Disorders at Colmery-O’Neil VA Medical Center in Topeka. In addition, he maintains a part-time private practice. His 25 years of experience in the treatment of PTSD for veterans and individuals who have experienced trauma has resulted in national recognition in his field.
Dr. Farrell-Higgins will focus on symptoms, the role of avoidance and numbing in contributing to blocked recovery from PTSD, and available treatment options.
