(KNZA)--An early morning head-on collision between a semi and an suv, south of Waterville in Marshall County, left a Manhattan man injured while shutting down a portion of U.S. Highway 77 for over three hours.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says it happened around 1:30 Tuesday morning when a GMC Jimmy, driven by 52-year-old Greig Olney, was, for unpecified reasons, traveling northbound in the southbound lane of the highway. That caused his suv to smash, head-on, into a southbound Peterbilt semi-truck driven by 54-year-old Axtell resident Douglas Ford.
Olney was transported from the scene and taken to Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville for treatment of unspecified injuries.
Ford also went there, but, according to the Highway Patrol's report, suffered no injuries.
The report does not state whether or not the two drivers were wearing seatbelts.
The crash remains under investigation.
