(KLZA) Unemployment rates in Southeast Nebraska for the month of June increased, mirroring what happened statewide during the month.
Nemaha County now has the third highest unemployment rate in the state at 6.9 percent, up a full percentage point over the May figure. Richardson County has the fifth highest unemployment rate among Nebraska’s 93 counties at 6.3 percent, a jump of 9 tenths of a percent from May.
Elsewhere in Southeast Nebraska the June unemployment rates were up 3 – 7 tenths of a point. In Pawnee County the June rate was 3.7 percent, Johnson County 4.7 percent, Otoe 4.8 percent and Gage County 4.3 percent.
Statewide for June the preliminary unemployment rate rose two-tenths of a point to 4 percent. That is the same level as June of 2012.
The national unemployment rate in June was 7.6 percent.
Thurston County has the highest unemployment rate in Nebraska at 8.5 percent. Arthur County is next at 7.1 percent.
