( KAIR )--A 26-year-old Leavenworth man has been charged in connection with a fatal shooting over the weekend in Leavenworth.
The Leavenworth Times reports that Justin Driscoll made his first appearance Monday in Leavenworth County District Court on a charge of involuntary manslaughter.
Driscoll was arrested Saturday afternoon in connection with the shooting death of 30-year-old Dick Mathis.
Police say Mathis was shot early Saturday morning while he was a passenger in a pickup truck in the area of 18th and Cherokee Streets. Authorities say Mathis, Driscoll and two other men had been traveling in the pickup when a 9 mm handgun discharged, striking him in the chin.
Mathis was taken to a Leavenworth hospital where he died.
