(KTNC) - A grand opening ceremony was held at a new Falls City business Wednesday. Stephanie’s Epic Cakes, at 1712 Stone Street, opened on June 8th and has been doing a brisk business, selling cupcakes, cookies, brownies, and other desserts.
The business’ owner, Stephanie Wendtlandt, received some help getting the business going from a new program of the Southeast Nebraska Community Action Partnership. It’s called the Individual Development Account, or I-D-A, program, and it provides financial assistance for people looking to start a business. SENCA Executive Director Vicky McNealy explains. McNealy says people can use the IDA program for three purposes. (play audio :12)
Wendtlandt is the first person to enroll in the program, and McNealy says they have one other person enrolled in Otoe County, and are looking to expand it. (play audio :35)
