(KTNC) - Volunteers can help spruce up at Verdon Lake State Recreation Area on May 4th. That day has been designated as Take Pride in America Day, and people are encouraged to get out that day and make a difference in state parks and wildlife areas.
Verdon Lake State Recreation Area will host an event beginning at 9:00 a.m. that morning.
Volunteers can help cut trees, clean and paint restrooms, pick up trash, clean grills, and paint and repair picnic tables. Lunch will be served, and the day will conclude by 4:00 p.m., or at the volunteers’ discretion. No park entry permit is required for volunteers that day.
Anyone who wants to volunteer at Verdon Lake on may 4th should pre-register by May 1st. Volunteers under age 19 need parental permission, and the range of projects for those volunteers will be limited.
Volunteers should bring work gloves, sunscreen, and bug spray, and can also bring pruners, lopers, or rakes.
To register, call the Indian Cave State Park office at 402-883-2575.
