( KNZA )-The Sabetha City Commission has approved a development plan for the city’s airport.
City Administrator Doug Allen told the commission Monday that the plan is necessary in order to apply for grants.
The Sabetha Herald reports the plan’s ultimate goal is to increase the runway from it’s current size of 32-hundred feet long by 40 feet wide to 35-hundred feet long by 75 feet wide.
Allen said the number of planes currently housed at the airport has increased to eleven, up about 5 or 6 in recent years.
In other business, the commission approved an ordinance amending the current city code regulating alcohol on public property.
The amendment gives the commission the ability to grant special event permits, which would allow the consumption of alcohol on public property.
