(KLZA) Auburn City Clerk Sherry Heskett administered the Oath of Office to newly appointed Board of Public Works member Mac Erisman when the Board met April 8th.
During the BPW Board meeting rehabilitation of two of the communities water wells was approved at a cost of $9,985 each. Pump repair parts was not included in the price. Layne Christensen will be doing the work.
General Manager Dave Hunter requested if Board members or City Council members receive customer complaints they have those customers contact the BPW business office so the staff can review the customers account.
In other business Hunter recommended hiring a contractor to demolish the roof of the old power plant building in Auburn. That will enable City Staff to haul off the bricks from the building located on 9th Street to be used by the City of Auburn. The approved the plan.
Accounting and Finance Manager Melissa Sierks reported Christina Billings is the new Assistant Purchasing Agent. She will work 30 – 35 hours per week. Sierks also noted the current health insurance costs for the BPW and the City of Auburn. An additional expense of 20 percent of the cost savings was required to be paid to Freedom Claims who is the third party administrator.
Board members also approved purchase of a used trailer at a cost of less than $10,000 to haul the backhoe. Purchase of a new firewall for the BPW business office was also approve at a cost of $1,000.
