(KAIR) -- Members of the Lakeside Village Board met with Jefferson County Commissioners Monday to outline issues going on within the residential district near Ozawkie.
Members Tommy Hicks, Christy Shehan and Tammy Arfmann said several factors have led to a business issues and negative environment in the improvement district.
Those include the barring of campers on the campgrounds, lack of revenue due to a high vacancy rate, lack of county law enforcement in the grounds early years, drug trafficking and trash on abandoned properties.
However, the board also indicated efforts and activities scheduled to regenerate a community atmosphere in the district.
Commissioners encouraged the Lakeside board to put a plan together for creating a positive change in the district and return with a plan in the future for further discussion.
In other business, Commissioners tabled several pricy requests for the road and bridge department, including a new mower at 85 thousand dollars and a used dump truck estimated between 130 and 150 thousand dollars.
Commissioner Lynn Luck was absent due to illness and the attending Commissioners wanted all members present before acting.
