( KMZA )-The next Nemaha County tax foreclosure sale has been set.
Nemaha County Attorney Brad Lippert told county commissioners Monday the sale has officially been set for April 18th. The sale will begin at 10 that morning in front of the Nemaha County Courthouse in Seneca.
Lippert said currently 20 tracts of property are to be sold.
Kansas state law allows counties to auction off properties having delinquent taxes at a public auction. Properties are sold to the highest qualified bidder.
The current owner or owners may redeem the property at any time prior to the day of sale.
In other business, Commissioners gave Nemaha County Training Center Director Alice Lackey approval to seek bids to replace the parking lot at the Sabetha training center location.
Lackey says she plans to seek bids for both an asphalt surface and a concrete surface. Bids will be accepted through April 8th.
County Senior Services Director Fern Odum presented commissioners with the applications she has received so far for her position.
Odum said she has only received two applications, but expects more this week.
Odum is retiring effective September 20th after working for the county 23 years.
