Hiawatha Home Damaged by Fire

 ( KNZA )-Fire caused damage to a Hiawatha home Sunday evening.

The Hiawatha Fire Department was called to the Caleb Barnes residence located at 310 South 6th Street around 7 o’clock.

Assistant Fire Chief Brian Butrick says Barnes came home and discovered the fire.

Butrick says the fire was contained to an upstairs bedroom, with smoke damage throughout the rest of the upstairs.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Firefighters were on the scene about 1 ½ to 2 hours. 

The Brown County Rescue Squad and Town and County EMS also responded.
