(KNZA)--The City of Highland takes another step forward in the ongoing process of improvements to the city's water system, as mandated by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
That comes as the City Council approves a construction contract, in the amount of $583,000, for construction of a new 125,000 gallon elevated storage tank.
Chosen for the project, contingent upon several factors related to funding, is Sioux Falls, South Dakota-based Maguire Iron.
At the same time, a contract is awarded for the construction of a new City of Highland waterline, also contingent upon funding related issues.
Chosen to complete that project is Holton based Banks Construction, at a cost of around $450,000.
In January of 2012, the City of Highland was awarded a Community Development Block Grant, through the Kansas Department of Commerce, to help with the funding of the mandated work.
