Update: Ks Couple Facing Felony Charges in Neb.
(KLZA) Bond has been set at $4 million each for a Kansas couple facing multiple charges in Nebraska.
33 year old Michael Engstrom and 34 year old Jamie Engstrom both appeared Wednesday in Johnson County, Nebraska County Court.
Michael Engstrom is facing 21 felony counts. Among the charges is five counts of attempted second degree murder, child abuse, resisting arrest through the use of a deadly or dangerous weapon, seven counts of use of a firearm to commit a felony and two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
According to a release from Johnson County Attorney Julie D. Smith, if convicted on all counts, Michael Engstrom would be facing 42 – 825 years in prison.
Jamie Engstrom, who also is known as Jamie Russell, faces a dozen counts. Her charges include aiding and abetting unlawful discharge of a firearm, three counts of aiding and abetting unlawful discharge of a firearm, three counts of aiding and abetting attempted murder and child abuse.
If convicted on all 12 charges Jamie Engstrom is facing 24 – 420 years in prison.
The Engstroms are both from Topeka and are suspects in a double shooting in Topeka on February 13th that left one man dead and a woman wounded.
In addition, they are facing charges in Pawnee County in connection to a robbery at the Casey’s General Store in Pawnee City on February 13th.
Authorities say that when Nebraska officers tried to stop the couple, Engstrom fired at them, wounding one. The high-speed chase ended when their car became stuck in a field near St. Mary’s Nebraska.
